Privacy policy
This policy explains what Knock Knock Digital LLC, trading as The Warm Chapter, does with your personal information when you visit or order from this store. We are the data controller. This store serves customers in the United Kingdom, and we handle UK customers' information under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and US customers' information under applicable US state privacy laws.
What we collect
- When you order: name, billing and delivery address, email, phone number and the details of what you bought. Card details are entered directly into our payment processor and we never see or store the full number.
- When you browse: device and browser information, pages viewed and how you reached us, through cookies and similar technologies.
- When you contact us: whatever you choose to put in the message.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To fulfil your order — performance of our contract with you.
- To handle returns, questions and complaints — performance of the contract, and our legitimate interest in running the shop properly.
- To keep accounting and tax records — our legal obligations.
- For analytics and advertising — your consent, which you give or refuse through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
Shopify (our store and checkout platform), our payment processors, the carriers who deliver your parcel, and the analytics and advertising providers you have consented to. We do not sell your personal information.
Where your information is processed
We operate from the United States, so information about UK customers is transferred to and processed there. Those transfers are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, or by the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified under it.
How long we keep it
Order and tax records for six years, which satisfies UK tax law and US record-keeping needs. Marketing contact details until you unsubscribe. Analytics data for 26 months.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access your information, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email support@thewarmchapter.com. We reply within one month and we will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the UK and unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
If you are in the United States
Depending on your state you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. If you are in California, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you these rights, including the right not to be treated differently for using them. Use the email address below, or our Your privacy choices page. We honour Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of advertising cookies.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the cart and checkout to work, and optional cookies for analytics and advertising. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations we set the optional ones only with your consent; you can refuse or withdraw it through the banner or your browser settings, and the store will still work.
Children
This store is not intended for anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
